Homeownership

The Home Trust offers a unique form of homeownership that provides low to moderate income households an opportunity they may not have in the private market. Every applicant has a different experience dependent upon their needs and capacity. Thus length of time from applicant to buyer and from buyer to owner will vary. Our goal is to help you become a successful homeowner. Our hope is that the success of affordable homeownership carries on for generations to come.

The application process begins by collecting data about the potential buyer so that we may verify their qualifications. Applicants must then attend an orientation to learn the details of the program and process and an intensive homebuyer education class to prepare them for the overall homebuying process. Applicants must visit with a Home Trust approved lender to determine how much house they can afford.

The Home Trust calls on many public resources to serve our buyers, owners and sellers. Additional assistance is provided on a need basis and may have requirements and restrictions beyond those of our homeownership program. Subsidy may also vary in how and when the funds must be repaid. Often times these are 0% interest loans with deferred payments.
